Why Ethical Consumerism is the New Black!

RAM Training Services

If you’re not sure what it is, to shop ethically means that you purchase products that are fair trade, organic and cruelty free. So why shop ethically?  “To achieve sustainable development and a higher quality of life for all people, states should reduce and eliminate unsustainable patterns of production and consumption…”  Principle 8, The Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, 1992

In many Asian countries where labour standards are seriously abused the results are extremely low living wages, poor working environments, and child labour to list a few. The negative environmental impact is happening globally. What you buy affects the world.

Generally it is the big brand companies that contribute to the problem as they continually force the closure of small businesses who are the ones trying to do the right thing and support ethical consumerism where basic human rights are well protected and animals are no longer brutally abused. When you shop ethically you empower the consumer,  you have a say on how the product you purchase is made. When shopping ethically you contribute positively towards the global economy. So spread the word, tell people about shopping ethically and how doing it will make the world a better place.

Collective One aims to source our products from ethical suppliers, using natural, recycled or biodegradable products wherever possible.  While this isn’t always possible, it does mean that your purchase from Collective One not only helps to improve the life of someone in need, it also leaves as little negative impact on human rights and to our planet, as possible.
